Exploring Nature's Wonders: Outdoor Day Camps

This week marked the culmination of an inspiring collaboration between the National Outdoor Learning Alliance (NOLA) and EverWild Forest School, as they concluded another successful series of day camps in partnership with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The aim was to foster a deep connection between children and the great outdoors while promoting joy and community.

Led by passionate educators from EverWild, children delved into the fascinating world of winter wildlife. From understanding how animals hibernate, migrate, and adapt to the changing seasons, to the joy of emulating migrating birds, the day camps were filled with captivating discoveries.

One highlight was witnessing a majestic spectacle as a vast flock of honking geese descended for a graceful landing in a nearby pond. Enthusiastic children, armed with newfound knowledge, marveled at the natural phenomenon. To add a touch of whimsy to the experience, the group even engaged in the playful art of "speaking geese." The laughter and joy echoed as the children and educators alike carried on imaginary conversations with their feathered friends, creating lasting memories and fostering a deeper appreciation for the diverse voices of nature.

The collaboration between NOLA, EverWild, and IRC not only provided children with an opportunity to connect with nature but also emphasized the importance of community. As the day camps came to a close, the participants left with a sense of wonder, a wealth of knowledge, and a newfound ability to appreciate the magic of the great outdoors. This collaborative effort serves as a reminder that through education and exploration, we can inspire the next generation to cherish the natural world.

This initiative would not have been possible without our community of supporters, partners, and volunteers. We express our gratitude for your involvement in this crucial mission to increase the prevalence of outdoor learning opportunities for youth around the country.

To advance our mission, we invite you to join NOLA as a member today. If you're already a member, please consider making a small contribution to further support our cause.
